Bitdeer seeks an AI Datacenter Construction Cost Lead to own budgets, bids, contracts, and long-lead equipment across Bitdeer’s AI data center builds. You will report to the VP, Data Center Construction and coordinate with site managers, TPM, design, finance, and supply chain.

Texas and Ohio-based roles preferred, with on-site work as needed. The ideal candidate has hands-on data center cost engineering experience, strong contract knowledge, and a proven track record in procurement for

• 8+ years in construction cost management, procurement, or related roles.
• Strong knowledge of construction contract forms (AIA, ConsensusDocs) and GMP, lump-sum, cost-plus models.
• Experience procuring MEP trade packages and long-lead equipment.
• Proficiency with estimating/cost-control tools and advanced Excel.
• Bachelor’s degree in CM/Engineering or related field; professional certifications welcomed.

Responsabilidades

• Cost planning, estimates, budgets, and control for data center builds.
• Lead bid management, contracting, and vendor selection for GC, trades, and equipment.
• Manage pay applications, liens, disputes, and change orders to protect project value.
• Build cost benchmarks, monitor market rates, and drive cost-saving initiatives (Value Engineering).

We are seeking

We are seeking an AI Datacenter Construction Cost Lead to own cost management and construction procurement across Bitdeer’s AI data center builds. Reporting to the VP, Data Center Construction, you will set budgets, run competitive bids, manage contracts and change orders, and secure long-lead equipment so each project is delivered on budget and on time. You will be the commercial backbone of the construction team, working with site construction managers, the TPM, design, finance, and supply chain. The ideal candidate brings hands-on data center cost engineering and procurement experience and a strong command of construction contracts. Candidates will work on site as needed and should be based in one of the following areas, primarily in Texas and Ohio: Austin, TX; Rockdale, TX; Abilene, TX; Houston, TX; Dallas, TX; Massillon, OH; Clarington, OH; Columbus, OH; Akron, OH; or Pittsburgh, PA.

What You Will Be Responsible For

Cost Planning & Control

• Budgets & Estimates: Develop conceptual and detailed estimates, cost plans, and control budgets for each build.
• Cost Reporting: Track committed, incurred, and forecast costs, and own Estimate at Completion (EAC) and cash-flow forecasts.
• Change Control: Review, negotiate, and track change orders, contingency, and allowances with clear documentation.

Procurement & Contracting

• Bid Management: Lead RFPs, bid leveling, and contractor and vendor selection for general contractor, trade, and equipment packages.
• Contract Administration: Prepare and administer construction and supply contracts, GMPs, and purchase orders with legal and finance.
• Long-Lead Equipment: Secure long-Lead equipment (e.g., transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS, chillers, CDUs) and manage OFCI scope, delivery, and payment milestones.

Commercial Management

• Pay Applications: Review contractor pay applications, lien waivers, and retention for accuracy and compliance.
• Claims & Disputes: Manage commercial claims and support their resolution.
• Value Engineering: Lead value engineering and benchmarking to lower cost per MW without compromising quality or schedule.

Supplier & Market Strategy

• Supplier Relationships: Build a qualified base of contractors, trade partners, and equipment suppliers across US markets.
• Market Intelligence: Track pricing, lead times, and labor market conditions to inform budgets and procurement strategy.
• Cost Benchmarks: Build a cost database and benchmarks from completed projects.

How You Will Stand Out

• Experience: 8+ years in construction cost management, quantity surveying, or procurement, with significant data center or mission-critical experience.
• Contracts: Strong knowledge of construction contract forms (e.g., AIA, ConsensusDocs) and GMP, lump-sum, and cost-plus models.
• Equipment Procurement: Experience procuring MEP trade packages and long-Lead electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Cost Tools: Proficiency with estimating and cost control tools and advanced Excel.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Certifications: Professional certifications such as RICS, AACE (CCP or CEP), or CPSM.
• Owner-Side Experience: Owner-side cost or procurement role at a hyperscaler, colocation provider, or AI infrastructure developer.
• Commercial Judgment: Protects the company’s position while keeping contractor relationships productive.
• Negotiation: Confident, well-prepared negotiator.
• Analytical Rigor: Builds accurate, auditable cost data.
• Integrity: Runs fair and transparent procurement processes.
