Job summary

AbbVie is seeking an experienced AI Data Scientist II to join the FAiM Team in North Chicago, IL. You will work at the intersection of machine learning and clinical science to accelerate drug discovery and improve patient outcomes.

You will lead development, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and deliver robust AI-enabled data solutions. The role demands hands-on ML, backend development with FastAPI, and strong communication as you balance multiple projects and translate complex concepts

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master’s in CS/Data Science with 4–5+ years in AI/ML.
Experience applying AI/ML in clinical or pharmaceutical contexts.
Hands-on experience with LLMs and machine learning algorithms.
Strong Python programming with data‑science libraries.
Backend development experience using FastAPI.
Experience with Knowledge Graphs and related Python packages.
Experience building applications on AWS infrastructure (ECS).
Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deploy AI-driven solutions for clinical and pharmaceutical challenges.
Develop and maintain backend data pipelines using FastAPI.
Create automations and RPA integrations to streamline workflows.
