Job summary

Henderson Scott is assisting in recruiting an experienced Robotics Perception Engineer to support perception and autonomous systems development for a global engineering and manufacturing organisation. The role focuses on camera and LiDAR datasets, ground truth generation, data annotation and Python-based automation.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, perception systems or sensor-based computer vision applications, beyond generic data science

Qualifications

• Hands-on Python development and automation
• Practical experience training, fine-tuning and deploying machine learning models
• Experience with computer vision, perception systems or autonomous technologies
• Knowledge of camera and LiDAR sensor datasets, including data collection and processing
• Experience developing data pipelines, annotation workflows and ground truth datasets
• Understanding of data validation, annotation quality assurance and dataset accuracy
• Familiarity with ML model evaluation, experiment tracking, version control and deployment practices
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and cross-functional communication skills

Responsibilities

• Develop Python-based automation for sensor data ingestion, processing, validation and quality assurance.
• Train, fine-tune, evaluate and support the deployment of machine learning models.
• Design and optimise data collection pipelines for camera and LiDAR sensor datasets.
• Develop automated data annotation, ground truth generation and validation workflows.
• Identify dataset quality issues, labelling defects and model performance gaps.
• Implement improvements to annotation accuracy, dataset consistency and overall ML performance.

We are recruiting an experienced Robotics Perception Engineer to support the development of advanced perception and autonomous systems for a global engineering and manufacturing organisation.

This is a specialist engineering position focused on camera and LiDAR sensor datasets, ground truth generation, data annotation and Python-based automation.

We are particularly interested in engineers with hands‑on experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, perception systems or sensor-based computer vision applications, rather than purely traditional data science or generative AI backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities
