Job description

Overview

AI & Automation Developer

Company: Dashline

Location: Montebello, NY

Schedule: Full-time, in office

If AI, software, and creating meaningful change across multiple clients excite you, and you want to help shape where development is going, this role is for you.

About Dashline

Dashline builds customized business software that helps established companies reduce manual work, streamline operations, and scale more effectively. We combine AI, custom development, automation, integrations, and low-code platforms to turn complex processes into streamlined, dependable systems.

About the Role

You will build production-ready AI and automation solutions that solve real operational challenges, not isolated experiments.

What You’ll Do
  • Build AI workflows that use context, tools, APIs, and business data to complete multi-step tasks and route exceptions appropriately.
  • Develop AI-powered business applications that combine model reasoning with structured data, defined business rules, human approvals, and appropriate safeguards.
  • Build automations, integrations, and internal tools across CRM, finance, operations, communications, and other core business systems.
  • Build reliable AI workflows using model APIs, structured outputs, retrieval, tool use, context management, and human review where needed.
  • Create secure integrations using REST APIs, webhooks, authentication, middleware, database processes, and background automation.
  • Test AI behavior and improve reliability through clear guardrails, permissions, monitoring, fallbacks, and error handling.
  • Troubleshoot AI workflow failures, unexpected outputs, data-sync issues, bugs, and performance problems.
  • Take work from clear requirements through development, testing, deployment, documentation, and ongoing improvement.
What We’re Looking For
  • We care less about job titles and more about strong technical judgment, curiosity, ownership, and a demonstrated ability to build dependable systems.
  • Five or more years of professional software development experience is helpful, but relevant ability and a strong body of work matter more than tenure.
  • Hands‑on experience building software, automations, integrations, or AI‑powered applications that work with real business data and production systems.
  • Strong full‑stack development experience, including modern front‑end and back‑end technologies used to build business applications, integrations, and internal systems.
  • Experience working with REST APIs, webhooks, authentication, third‑party systems, databases, and reliable data flows.
  • Experience supporting DevOps practices, including source control, environment management, automated testing, CI/CD, deployment workflows, monitoring, and production reliability.
  • Practical experience using LLM APIs to build reliable workflows with structured outputs, retrieval, tool use, and effective context management.
  • Ability to test AI behavior, identify failure modes, debug code and workflows, and improve reliability rather than accepting model output at face value.
  • Sound judgment about when to use AI, traditional code, automation, or low‑code, and how to combine them effectively.
  • Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, collaborate with project managers, analysts, and developers, and move projects forward to completion.
  • Ability to work through incomplete or evolving requirements, ask the right questions, make sound decisions, and move work forward without unnecessary delays.
  • Ability to work in the office at our Montebello, NY location.
Preferred Experience
  • Production experience building AI agents that use tools, take actions, manage state, or coordinate multi‑step workflows.
  • Experience with agent frameworks, MCP or similar tool‑integration patterns, vector databases, embeddings, semantic search, or RAG.
  • Experience with the Zoho ecosystem or similar business application platforms.
  • Experience with SQL, cloud platforms, containers, queues, or other production infrastructure technologies.
Why You’ll Enjoy Working at Dashline
  • Work at the intersection of AI agents, automation, custom development, integrations, and business software.
  • Build meaningful solutions across multiple industries and see the operational impact of your work.
  • Take projects from concept through production and contribute to Dashline’s evolving AI development practices.
  • Use modern AI development tools and explore new approaches when they can create clear, practical value.
  • Competitive compensation and a collaborative environment focused on learning, accountability, and results.
