Job description

At Auction.com, we're transforming real estate. As the nation's leading online platform for buying and selling residential bank-owned and foreclosure properties, we connect buyers, sellers, and investors with innovative technology. With over $70 billion in assets, our success is driven by a culture of innovation, collaboration, and impact. We go beyond the bid - empowering our people to thrive and shape the future of the industry

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on AI Applications Engineer to help transform how work gets done across our organization through AI and intelligent automation. Using Claude as our primary AI platform, you will partner primarily with G&A and business teams to identify manual, repetitive, and complex workflows and turn them into secure, scalable AI-powered applications, agents, and automations. As a fintech and real estate technology company working closely with banks, mortgage servicers, and financial services partners, security, data privacy, governance, and compliance are critical. The solutions you build must not only improve efficiency but also be secure, controlled, auditable, and aligned with regulatory and client requirements.

What You’ll Do
  • Design, build, test, and deploy AI-powered applications, agents, and workflow automations using Claude and other emerging AI technologies.
  • Partner with Finance, HR, and Legal teams to identify high-impact opportunities for AI and automation.
  • Build solutions using LLMs, APIs, RAG[DO1.1][AT1.2][DO1.3], structured outputs, tool/function calling, and agentic workflows.
  • Integrate AI capabilities with existing enterprise applications, databases, APIs, and SaaS platforms.
  • Move solutions from prototype and proof-of-concept into secure, reliable production applications.
  • Build human-in-the-loop controls, monitoring, and approval processes for sensitive or regulated workflows.
  • Partner with Technology, Security, Legal, and Compliance to ensure AI solutions meet privacy, security, regulatory, contractual, and data governance requirements.
  • Establish appropriate permissions, audit trails, monitoring, and safeguards for AI-enabled processes.
  • Measure the impact of solutions through improvements in efficiency, accuracy, turnaround time, cost, and employee experience.
  • Stay current on emerging AI technologies and identify new opportunities to responsibly apply them across the organization.
What We’re Looking For
  • 3+ years of software engineering or application development experience, with hands-on experience building AI/LLM-powered solutions.
  • Strong development skills in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience with Claude/Anthropic APIs or comparable enterprise LLM platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with LLM concepts such as RAG, embeddings/vector search, prompt engineering, structured outputs, tool/function calling, and AI agents.
  • Experience integrating APIs, databases, cloud services, and enterprise applications.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering, data privacy, security, and production application development.
  • Ability to take an ambiguous business problem, understand the workflow, and translate it into a practical technical solution.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to partner with both technical and non-technical teams.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with Claude Code, Anthropic APIs, or Model Context Protocol (MCP).
  • Experience with AWS and cloud-native development.
  • Experience integrating AI with Salesforce, Microsoft 365, Workday, or other enterprise platforms.
  • Experience in fintech, banking, mortgage servicing, real estate technology, financial services, or another regulated industry.
  • Familiarity with AI governance, audit requirements, security controls, and responsible AI practices.
