Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an AI & Data Science Specialist to join a Tallahassee, FL engagement at the FDOT client office. The role emphasizes collaboration, data-driven decision making, and deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of data science, AI, or ML experience, strong Python skills, and experience with LLMs, VLMs, and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS). You will mentor teammates and communicate complex results to clients and leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, AI, ML, or related field.
• Master's degree preferred for advanced roles and leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with industry experts to solve complex business challenges using data science, machine learning, and AI.
• Collect, organize, and analyze structured and unstructured data to identify trends and actionable insights.
• Design, develop, optimize, and deploy machine learning models and predictive analytics solutions.
• Develop AI applications, including generative AI solutions leveraging LLMs such as GPT, Claude, and Gemini.
• Build AI-powered tools including AI Copilots, chatbots, RAG systems, AI agents, NLP applications, computer vision solutions, and predictive analytics tools.
• Develop dashboards and reporting tools using Power BI or similar technologies.
• Support data and AI strategy development while working within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Mentor junior team members and communicate technical findings to clients, stakeholders, and leadership.
• Utilize cloud technologies including Azure and/or AWS to support AI and analytics solutions.
• Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and client engagements while supporting successful project delivery.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Your role

About You

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative field; Master's degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in data science, analytics, AI, or machine learning (4+ years with a Master's degree), or 3+ years of direct AI/ML application development experience.
• Experience designing, building, and deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments.
• Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and generative AI technologies.
• Strong Python programming skills
• Experience building AI Copilots, chatbots, RAG systems, AI agents, NLP solutions, computer vision applications, or predictive analytics tools.
• Experience with databases, SQL, Power BI and/or Tableau, and cloud platforms including Azure or AWS.
• Strong technical writing, communication, presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and work effectively in a collaborative, client-focused environment.

Additional Information

Expected compensation range is between $115,000 - $130,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
