Job summary

Smith+Nephew is seeking an Agentic AI Intern to join the Software Engineering team in Andover, MA. You will design, prototype, and validate AI agents, integrating them with engineering tools and data sources while exploring RAG and multi-agent workflows.

You will work closely with mentors on clearly defined internship projects, gain hands-on experience with Generative AI, LLMs, and AI-enabled software development, and present results to senior leadership during a 12-week program starting May

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree with strong academic standing (3.0 GPA preferred).
• Experience with Generative AI, LLMs, or AI agents is preferred.
• Interest in Python and AI tooling for prototyping solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and prototype AI agents and agentic workflows for software use cases.
• Build applications and services using Generative AI and LLMs.
• Develop integrations between AI agents and engineering systems and data sources.
• Evaluate AI-agent outputs for accuracy, reliability, and quality.
• Document designs, experiments, results, and learnings; present conclusions to leadership.
• Collaborate with managers and mentors to complete internship projects.
