This role involves developing and implementing change management strategies to ensure successful adoption and integration of new systems and processes that will impact portfolio and program management operations across compony. Change management leadership will be critical for AI initiatives, as they will change and evolve processes, roles, and responsibilities across the organization. The Associate Director will work closely with various departments across drug development — including PPM, DAL, AI Innovation, Data Stewardship, IT, Legal, Compliance, and Quality — to ensure that changes are effectively communicated, adopted, and sustained, and that AI-enabled capabilities are translated into measurable business value.

What You’ll Do

Develop and implement change management strategies related to AI initiatives, Planisware enhancements, workflow automation, and associated process and resource changes. Collaborate with IT, and business units to understand the impact of changes on roles, handoffs, decision points, and data-entry expectations, and develop appropriate change management plans. Lead implementation of change management activities, including stakeholder engagement, communications, role-based training, job aids, office hours, and communities of practice. Lead, monitor, and assess change impact and organizational readiness, and develop strategies to address resistance to change. Build and manage change champion networks across Program Management, Program Planning, Development Asset leads, and broader Development functions to accelerate adoption and reinforce desired behaviors. Define, monitor, and report adoption metrics, user engagement indicators, value realization measures, and solution performance KPIs to leadership. Promote responsible AI adoption by helping users understand appropriate use, limitations, human review requirements, governance expectations, and compliance obligations. Coordinate user acceptance testing, release readiness, go-live support, and post-implementation adoption monitoring for technology and AI initiatives.

Who You Are

You have a passion for change management and managing within the matrix. You have a strong understanding of AI, data, and technology capabilities, and of portfolio, program, and resource management processes within life sciences R&D. You are equally comfortable translating complex technical concepts for senior leaders and coaching everyday users through new ways of working.

Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline; BS/BA with 8+ years, MS with 6+ years, or equivalent experience in change management, technology adoption, digital transformation, or portfolio operations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading organizational change and business transformation, preferably as a business lead for the implementation and adoption of new systems, digital technologies, AI-enabled solutions, or enterprise platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and address barriers to AI adoption, including process complexity, capability gaps, resistance to change, uncertainty about role impacts, and lack of confidence in AI-generated outputs.
  • Strong understanding of AI, generative AI, analytics, and data-driven technologies, including their potential business applications, limitations, risks, and impact on roles, workflows, and decision-making.
  • Experience leading the people, process, and workflow changes associated with AI-enabled solutions, including readiness assessments, capability building, user education, feedback collection, and sustained adoption.
  • Experience applying structured change management methodologies such as Prosci, ADKAR, Kotter, or equivalent.
  • Ability to translate complex AI, analytics, and data concepts into practical business value, workflow implications, and clear user-facing communications.
  • Experience developing AI adoption strategies, including stakeholder engagement, user readiness, communications, training, feedback mechanisms, and reinforcement plans.
  • Excellent ability to align individuals with program goals and to build consensus.
  • Excellent leadership, matrix management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent strategic planning and implementation skills, with experience defining adoption KPIs and value-realization metrics.
Preferred Skills
  • Change management certification (e.g., Prosci, ACMP).
  • Strong understanding of how AI will transform life sciences and enterprise platform transitions.
  • Knowledge of R&D portfolio and program management, resource management, and enterprise PPM systems such as Planisware.
  • Experience with enterprise AI tools, Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform, SharePoint, Power BI, or Tableau.
