Alameda Health System is seeking an experienced EVS Manager to lead Environmental Services at Alameda Hospital. This role is available to internal candidates and reports to hospital leadership. The position is Full Time - Day, based in Alameda, CA, with responsibility for workflow, budgeting and coordination across sites.

Summary

SUMMARY: Responsible for managing all aspects of Environmental Services environmental services ensure a safe, sanitary and attractive appearance. Plans, organizes, supervises, coordinates and controls the activities of the Environmental Services (EVS) Department. Assists with directing and managing the Environmental Services activities of the Community Hospitals and their affiliated facilities. The Manager is responsible for workflow distribution, scheduling, leads, operational budgets and forecasts, regular rounding of the hospital to ensure federal, state and local regulation compliance as well as assist in special administrative duties. Performs related duties as required.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification, however, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.

• 1. Attends committee meetings, i.e. Quality Assurance, Environment of Care, Infection Control, Health and Safety and other related committees as required by the Director. Serves as EOC, Hazardous Waste Chapter Chair.
• 2. Communicates effectively and consistently administrative directives to EVS staff.
• 3. Conducts annual evaluations for all Environmental Services leads as well as reviews all Environmental Services staff evaluations; Reviews and confers with supervisors the work schedules and assignments of Environmental Services staff; Reviews and schedules all new applicants for employment in the EVS department; provides supervision and scheduling of all leads; provides training for all techniques and equipment used in the Environmental Services department.
• 4. Conducts monthly departmental meetings and encourages participation.
• 5. Ensures compliance with departmental operations, fire, safety and infection control policies and procedures. Manages EPA Certification for all sites.
• 6. Ensures, in partnership with Materials Management, that the patient care units are adequately stocked with linens; provides recommendations of any changes in supplies or equipment to improve safety for the staff and patients and/or to reduce departmental costs.
• 7. Maintains a working relationship with physicians, nursing staff, patients, visitors and Environmental Services staff.
• 8. Participates and provides input with the fiscal EVS Departmental budget; maintains an inventory list of supplies and equipment in the department; participates in the development and implementation of all departmental policies and procedures.
• 9. Participates in Performance Improvement and Infection Control programs.
• 10. Responsible for groundskeeping and pest control for all sites.
• 11. Coordinate the functions of the Environmental Services department with other hospital departments; supervise employees directly and through subordinates.
• 12. Maintain records, analyze data, and prepare reports.
• 13. Plan and assist in directing the work of a large Environmental Services department and linen room.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience: Three to five years of increasingly responsible experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital or other institutional Environmental Services department.
