Summary

Summary: The AHD Kitchen Helper at Alameda Hospital assists with food preparation and service, adhering to proper food handling and safety techniques. Performs related duties as required.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

• Ensures an adequate supply of food and supplies is available at all times, reporting shortages to the supervisor immediately. Uses resources efficiently and maintains departmental security.
• Serves food in an attractive manner, prepares and portions food according to instructions and schedules, and delivers meals and snacks on time.
• Maintains refrigerator/freezer temperatures within the appropriate range, records temperatures, and reports discrepancies promptly.
• Keeps work areas clean, maintains equipment in safe condition, reports issues promptly, and cleans using proper chemicals and procedures.
• Maintains proper food temperatures during preparation and service, recording temperatures as per procedures.
• Prepares and pre-portion foods for regular and therapeutic diets using standardized recipes, following food safety guidelines.
• Serves resident meals and snacks accurately, respecting diet orders and preferences, and uses portion control utensils. Labels and stores food properly.
• Washes dishes according to procedures, monitors water temperatures and sanitization, reports problems, and follows infection control protocols.
• Ensures correct pricing at checkout, gives correct change, and maintains cash security.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required (waived for current employees).
• Experience in food service preferred.
• Serve Safe certification preferred.
