Job summary

Children's Hospital Colorado is seeking a Life Support Program Coordinator to develop, implement, and deliver AHA education courses (PALS, ACLS, BLS). This role includes course management, instructor support, RQI oversight, and evaluation for continuous improvement.

The position requires an Associate's degree in a healthcare field, 5+ years of healthcare experience, 1 year as an AHA instructor, and active licenses/certifications including BLS/CPR and ACLS or PALS instructor credentials.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a healthcare-related field.
  • Five years of healthcare experience in RN/RT/EMT/Paramedic roles.
  • One year of experience as an AHA instructor.
  • Current license in a healthcare role and BLS/CPR with ≥6 months remaining; ACLS/PALS instructor certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide AHA PALS, ACLS, and BLS courses for CHCO staff and providers.
  • Coordinate, manage, and schedule courses; manage registrations and instructor assignments.
  • Maintain life support equipment and supplies; update as needed.
  • Provide AHA instructor training and support with renewals.
  • Manage CHCO's RQI system and coordinate TNCC/ENPC with external providers.
  • Invoice providers and external students for courses.

Job Overview

The Life Support Program Coordinator develops, implements, and delivers American Heart Association (AHA) education courses, including, but not limited to Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Basic Life Support (BLS). Responsibilities include course management, AHA instructor support, RQI management/support and evaluation and improvement of the program. The Life Support Coordinator is a PALS, ACLS, and BLS instructor.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide CHCO Staff and Providers with AHA PALS, ACLS, and BLS certification courses, including AHA Instructor courses, in accordance with the AHA guidelines.
  • Provide CHCO staff and Providers with any additional Life Support educational courses in related area of resuscitation.
  • Coordinate, manage, and schedule courses, manage registrations, and manage instructor assignments for AHA Courses.
  • Manage, maintain, and update Life support equipment and supplies, keep equipment and supplies in good working order.
  • Provide AHA Instructor Training and support with monitoring for AHA Instructor renewals.
  • Manage and support CHCO RQI system administrator.
  • Manage, schedule, and arrange TNCC/ENPC courses with outside providers.
  • Invoice providers and external students for courses.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Degrees
    • Associate's degree in a healthcare-related field
  • Experience
    • Five (5) years of experience directly providing healthcare in a Registered Nurse, Respiratory Therapy, Emergency Medicine Technician, or Paramedic role.
    • One (1) year of experience as an AHA instructor.
  • Licenses & Certifications
    • Current license appropriate to the applicable healthcare role
    • BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association (AHA) with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire.
    • Current Colorado Driver's License with good driving record
    • ACLS or PALS Instructor certification
