Job summary

Calista seeks a highly experienced aviation professional to perform maintenance test flights, Functional Check Flights, and EMC checks in support of the US Army Flight Test Directorate at Redstone Arsenal, AL.

Responsibilities include planning missions, conducting test flights, maintaining flight records, and coordinating with ground crews. A minimum of 10 years in aircraft maintenance and FAA certifications are required for this challenging role.

Qualifications

  • Meet all requirements as rated aviator per design/aircraft guidance.
  • Graduate of Army Maintenance Test Pilot Course or DES equivalency for AH-64.

Responsibilities

  • Plan missions.
  • Conduct general and limited maintenance test flights.
  • Conduct ferry flights.
  • Conduct Electromagnetic Compatibility Checks (EMC).
  • Conduct other test support missions as needed or directed.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to support the missions of the US Army Aviation Technical Test Center.
  • Prepare flight plans considering altitude, terrain, weather, aircraft, crew capabilities, operational and training requirements, and flight procedures.
  • Test both normal and emergency functions of aircraft systems.
  • Coordinate and direct flight phases of test or support with other aircraft.
  • Maintain flight records and report observations made during missions.
  • Provide detailed and effective communications with ground maintenance personnel on results of maintenance test, acceptance test flights, and all other flights as required.
  • During non‑flight periods, perform duties of Technical Inspector as needed.
  • Work overtime and weekends as deemed necessary by supervisor.

Job description

Primary Function

Yulista Contract Services provides full on-site / off-site maintenance flight/Functional Check Flight operations to support the US Army Flight Test Directorate (AFTD at Redstone Arsenal, AL). The support will be conducted in accordance with current Army directives, including but not limited to AR 95‑1 and AR 95‑20. Areas for support include completion of maintenance test flights, Functional Check Flights, Electromagnetic Compatibility Checks (EMC), subject matter expertise on Army aviation maintenance, fault isolation and troubleshooting, and test support missions as needed or directed.

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Maintenance Examiner (ME) designation.
  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate.
  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII) certificate.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Meet all requirements, as rated aviator IAW service guidance for specific design, type, series aircraft for which duties are to be performed.
  • Graduate of the Army Maintenance Test Pilot Course or completed an equivalency evaluation conducted by the Directorate of Evaluation and Standardization (DES) for AH‑64.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in aircraft maintenance.
  • Minimum of 1000 hours Pilot‑in‑Command time (300 hours in AH‑64).
  • At least an FAA Commercial Pilot or Airline Transport Pilot certificate.
  • Valid, current FAA or military Class II Medical Certificate.
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Perform drug‑free workplace and substance abuse testing.
