Job summary

Silgan Dispensing Systems seeks a warehouse/ materials operator to manage material flow between the warehouse and production lines. You will operate forklifts, monitor AGV activity, and update inventory using barcode systems to support production schedules.

  • Load/unload trailers and monitor conveyors.

Job description

SUMMARY

The primary function of the position is to manage material flow to/from the warehouse and on the production floor. Material flow can be managed but not limited to forklifts, narrow aisle forklifts, and AGV (Automatic Guided Vehicle) movement. Coordinate and respond to AGV activities either manually or through computer systems in relation to production and inventory issues. Manage all AGV activities by understanding the priorities by which the activities need to be completed (i.e Production demands - jobs in both the warehouse and in production, shipping, receiving and shuffling of product). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate a forklift to deliver/ receive material to/from production.
  • Monitoring of AGV activities using the following programs: Login Control Center, ProTraQ, and additional software systems.
  • Corrections to inventory using barcode scanners and the ProTraQ system.
  • Job re-issue / cancellations and adjustments using barcode scanners and ProTraQ system.
  • Basic troubleshooting, logging and reporting of issues relating to the AGV’s.
  • Manual Intervention and operation of the AGV’s.
  • Must have forklift certification.
  • Load and unload trailers as needed
  • Monitor conveyor systems
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE GED or equivalent One to three months related experience and/or training Successfully complete the entry level skills test, which includes: Understanding Instructions, Numerical Computation and Visual Checking.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and maintenance work orders, communicate effectively and present information in one-on-one and small group settings.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentage.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The work environment can be a fast paced moving environment. The employee needs to be able to make quick decisions based on the information presented at the current time. This information can change based on situations / priorities many times throughout the course of a shift. All decisions made must foremost take into account any safety concerns. If the task is deemed to be unsafe, another method to complete the task needs to be identified before the task is started
