Job summary

Watson Civil Construction, Inc. is seeking a Takeoff Technician to join the estimating team in our Tampa or Jacksonville/St. Augustine, FL offices.

You will support senior estimators with accurate quantity takeoffs, data entry, plan review, and organization of estimating materials for heavy civil and roadway projects. Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in construction or related fields, familiarity with civil plans, and experience with takeoff software (Agtek/Bluebeam/AutoCAD/HCSS).

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in construction, civil engineering, or related field preferred (internship or field experience accepted).
• Familiarity with reading civil construction plans and performing basic measurements.
• Experience with takeoff or design software (Agtek, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, HCSS, or similar) is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Motivated to learn and grow in the construction estimating field.

• Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and other project documents.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, and roadway items using company software.
• Assist in organizing bid documents and maintaining project files.
• Input and update data into estimating and takeoff software (HCSS, Agtek, Bluebeam).
• Coordinate with estimators to verify quantities, material requirements, and subcontractor inputs.
• Support the gathering and organization of supplier and subcontractor quotes.
• Help maintain standardized takeoff templates and historical quantity databases.
• Learn and apply estimating principles under the guidance of senior estimators.

Job Description
