Job summary

Iowa State University’s Digital Ag Innovation Lab is seeking a Research and Development Engineer I to contribute to advanced agricultural machinery, automation, and control systems. This hands-on role involves design, integration, testing, and field deployment of innovative equipment.

The engineer will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, work with CAN, MATLAB/Simulink, CANoe, NI LabVIEW, and DEWESoft, and develop test programs across software, electrical, sensing, mechanical, and fluid

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required in a relevant engineering field.
Experience or familiarity with CAN, MATLAB/Simulink, CANoe, NI LabVIEW or DEWESoft.
Interest in agricultural machinery, automation, and control systems.
Willingness to work hands-on with lab and field equipment.

Responsibilities

Collaborate on design, development, testing, and evaluation of automated agricultural machinery.
Support control software development and model-based software development.
Plan and execute test programs coordinating software, electrical, sensing, mechanical, and fluid power components.
Integrate sensors and hardware, collect and analyze data to identify performance trends.
Summarize results and communicate outcomes to stakeholders; operate equipment safely.
