Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America seeks an experienced sales and agronomy support professional to drive farm-level recommendations and oversee field trials for DFA Farm Supplies. You will sell products, develop trusted relationships with DFA Farmer Owners, and coordinate with Area Sales Managers to optimize crop production on dairy operations.

Preferred locations are Amarillo or Lubbock, TX, with flexibility for Denver or Kansas City.

Qualifications

  • BS in Business Management or Crop Science with at least 5 years of direct on-farm sales experience.
  • Experience in agronomic inputs or related business is preferred.
  • Ability to work across a large geographic area with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with DFA FS sales team on technical agronomy visits with DFA Farmer Owners.
  • Develop consultative relationships with DFA Farmer Owners.
  • Document all interactions in Salesforce within 24 hours.
  • Schedule visits to build knowledge of agronomic conditions across the U.S.
  • Oversee field trials with industry partners and provide analytical feedback.
  • Coordinate and present at trade shows, field days, and DFA meetings.
  • Use DFA FS marketing resources for targeted outreach and follow-up with prospects.
  • Advocate for DFA Farmer Owners with Sustainability and Farm Practices teams.

Job description

General Purpose:

Generate sales and provide technical support for optimizing crop production on dairy operations. Sell and support all agronomic products offered by DFA Farm Supplies (DFA FS) through direct interactions with DFA Farmer Owners and DFA FS Sales Teams. Identify and develop trusted relationships with DFA Farmer Owners and industry partners in the agronomic arena.

Preferred candidate locations are Amarillo TX or Lubbock TX. Could also consider candidates in Denver, CO or Kansas City, KS.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with DFA FS Area Sales Managers and Sales Associates on technical agronomy sales visits with DFA Farmer Owners
  • Develop consultative relationships with DFA Farmer Owners
  • Document all interactions in SalesForce within 24 hours
  • Consistently schedule visits with DFA Farmer Owner operations to build a working knowledge and expertise of agronomic conditions across the defined area of the U.S.
  • Oversee all aspects of field trials with industry partners and provide analytical feedback for review
  • Coordinate, attend, and present at industry trade shows, farm field days, DFA membership meetings, and other events as necessary
  • Utilize DFS FS marketing resources for targeted outreach and own the process of follow up/follow through with prospects
  • Advocate for DFA Farmer Owners' needs and expectations through deep relationships with DFA teams of Sustainability, Farm Practices and others

Minimum Requirements:
Education and Experience
  • BS. in Business Management or Crop Science with a minimum of 5 years' experience and proven success in direct, on-farm sales and support of agronomic inputs or the equivalent of direct business experience
  • Certification and/or License - N/A
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of high value agronomic inputs for cattle feed production
  • Familiarity with dairy farms and dairy farming practices of crop production
  • Able to effectively manage time and organize multiple activities within a large geographic area with minimal supervision
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently
  • Able to manage multiple relationships to coordinate the fulfillment of products and services to DFA Farmer Owners
  • Excellent communication skills to educate DFA Farmer Owners and industry partners on the benefits of a DFA FS relationship
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Travel: 50%-75% (up to 2 weeks per month)
