Job summary

Federated Co-ops, Inc. is offering a fall Agronomy Internship at the Ogilvie Ag Center in Ogilvie, MN. You will work on agronomic projects, assist the Agronomy Department with support activities, and gain hands-on experience under supervision.

This paid internship provides growth into a more specialized role within agronomy. The internship is designed for a student pursuing a college degree in agriculture with emphasis on agronomy, crop, soil and weed management, or related Ag science.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a college-level degree in agriculture with emphasis on agronomy, crop, soil, weed management, Ag business or related Ag science coursework.
  • Background in agriculture will be advantageous.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the supervision of the Location Manager on designated agronomic projects.
  • Assist with sales/research projects and data collection tasks.
  • Conduct field scouting, take soil and tissue samples, and generate field reports.

Education

College-level degree in agriculture with emphasis on agronomy, crop, soil, weed management, Ag business, or other Ag science coursework

Position Type: Internship

Federated Co-ops, Inc. has a fall internship opportunity available working out of our Ogilvie Ag Center! As the Agronomy Intern, you will work throughout the internship season on a range of designated agronomic projects and initially help the Agronomy Department with related support activities by performing the following duties with the intent of growing into a more specific Agronomy role.

Initial Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Agronomy Intern
  • The Agronomy Intern will function under the supervision of the Location Manager.
  • Be responsible for assigned sales/research projects.
  • Duties could include monitoring projects throughout the summer, taking pictures, taking soil and tissue samples, and gathering data.
  • Assist our Federated Discovery Plot Cooperator and Federated Agronomist with assigned Discovery Plot related research projects.
  • Present information to agronomy group at completion of project.
  • General field scouting with documentation and diagnose problems.
  • Attend meetings (sales meetings, training events).
  • Assists other agronomists/locations when needed or asked by the manager.
  • Insect, weed, and disease monitoring.
  • Generating computerized detailed field reports.
  • Work closely with producers and fellow employees to provide outstanding customer service.
  • Operate equipment as directed by the Location Manager.
  • Communicate in a professional manner with customers and management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QualificationsEducation/Experience

Student pursuing a college level degree in agriculture with emphasis on agronomy, crop, soil, weed management, Ag business, or other Ag science course work. Applicant with background in agriculture will have advantages.

Certificates and Licenses

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Wage range for the Agronomy Intern is $15 - $16 / hour. The actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications.
