Job summary

New Century FS, Inc. in Melbourne, IA, is seeking a Retail Agronomy Intern to perform crop field inspections, support agronomy operations, and assist with equipment and facility maintenance.

The role includes traveling to customer fields, applying IPM methods, and providing inspection reports to the agronomy team and customers. The intern will participate in technical trainings, learn from agronomy specialists, and contribute to daily retail operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel independently as needed.
• Occasionally exposed to extreme weather conditions; ability to lift 51–70 pounds as needed.

Responsibilities

• Hands on experience in agronomy field and operations.
• Assist with facility and equipment maintenance and repair.
• Drives company vehicle to designated customer crop field locations.
• Inspects fields using Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques and GPS to identify weeds, insects, diseases, and other yield limiting threats.
• Documents and photographs all findings, completes inspection reports, and provides reports to agronomy specialist and customers.
• Discusses results with the agronomy specialist and customers to answer questions and add value to the service.
• Attends scheduled technical training sessions and meetings.
• Assists with additional agricultural retail operational duties as time allows.
