AgriSompo has a unique opportunity for an Underwriter to support our Crop Underwriting group.

As an AgriSompo Underwriter, you’ll review and analyze insurance applications, production and acreage reports, process written agreements, conduct policy reviews, and ensure accurate documentation. You’ll play a key role in maintaining compliance and delivering exceptional client service throughout the underwriting process.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service and maintain strong, professional agent relationships

  • Review and assess insurance documents (applications, production and acreage reports) and apply underwriting rules in line with RMA guidelines

  • Ensure accurate data entry and policy record updates, resolve PASS errors and inconsistencies

  • Evaluate coverage and benefit amounts and obtain and clarify required documentation from agents

  • Respond to agent inquiries via phone and email, researching and resolving issues promptly

  • Conduct policy reviews, process written agreements, and support quality assurance efforts

  • Stay current on industry knowledge by attending training sessions

  • Perform additional underwriting tasks as needed

  • In addition to the core responsibilities, you'll receive ongoing coaching and feedback focused on performance and adaptability. This includes responsiveness, professionalism, accuracy, and timeliness, as well as a willingness to take initiative, embrace change, and adapt to new systems, teams, and processes.

What you’ll bring:

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of related crop insurance experience

  • Knowledge of the MPCI program and the applicable underwriting rules and procedures

  • Ability to learn and understand what information is needed to process insurance policies, FCIC rules and regulations, policy provision, etc.

  • Ability to understand printed policy information, such as manuals, handbooks, and actuarial documents and to apply information to work tasks

  • Proficient in keyboarding, ten-key, and accurate data entry

  • Strong verbal communication skills to address agents’ inquiries professionally and accurately

  • Ability to organize, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a team environment

  • Skilled in building and maintaining professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Quick learner with the ability to understand and apply company processes, terminology, and systems

  • Proficient in basic and complex mathematical calculations

  • Maintains composure, professionalism, and confidentiality in all situations

  • Capable of following both oral and written instructions and assisting in additional tasks as needed

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Ability to stand or sit constantly/continuously.

Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.

Visual: The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.

Environmental Conditions

The work environment described here is meant to be representative of those an employee would normally encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. The physical environment requires the employee to work inside where there are limited extremes to heat and/or cold; moderate noise; a normal office environment. This position will require travel for meetings and training.

Salary Range: $55,000 - $85,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
