Carthage Technical Center - South in Carthage, Missouri is seeking an Agriculture Education Instructor for the 2027-2028 school year. This full-time, 12-month position requires Secondary Agriculture Education Certification or the ability to obtain it through related industry experience, and a CDL with P and S endorsements within 1 year.

The teacher will provide instruction, develop lesson plans, supervise students, serve as an FFA advisor, and coordinate agricultural experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction to students.
  • Create and implement a classroom disciplinary plan.
  • Create lesson plans and activities to implement and supplement instruction.
  • Participate in building, grade level and subject area committees.
  • Maintain accurate student records including attendance, grades and discipline.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding progress and other educational concerns.
  • Prepare lesson plans for use by a substitute teacher.
  • Serve as an FFA advisor.
  • Assist and supervise Ag students to plan, develop, and conduct agricultural experience activities by means of FFA to help students to develop attitudes and skills in citizenship, leadership, and human relations.
  • Transport FFA members and students to and from contests and other events.
  • Report suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination and harassments as directed by Board policy.
  • Carry out all other duties as assigned.

Position: Agriculture Education Instructor

Term: Full-time, 12 Months

Classification: Certified, Exempt

Location: Carthage Technical Center

Qualifications: Secondary Agriculture Education Certification or ability to obtain through related industry experience; Must obtain Commercial Driver's License with a passenger (P) and school bus (S) endorsement within 1 year

Supervisory: No

Reports to: Director & Assistant Director of Carthage Technical Center

General Expectations:

  • Supports the mission of Carthage R-9 School District.
  • Supports the value of education.
  • Become familiar with, enforce, and follow all applicable Board policies and regulations, administrative procedures, other directions given by district administrators and supervisors, and state and federal laws.
  • Properly supervise students at all times, if applicable to essential job functions.
  • Obey all safety rules, including rules protecting the safety and welfare of students.
  • Care for, properly use, and protect school property.
  • Maintain courteous and professional relationships with students, parents/guardians, other district employees and the public.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, department staff, all members of the school district, and community as required.
  • Provides excellence in customer service both internally and externally.
  • Complies with privacy rights and safeguards confidential and/or sensitive information pertaining to staff and students.
  • Reacts to change productively and receive and transmit constructive criticism as it relates to job duties.

  • Conduct all official business in a professional and timely manner, utilizing district technology resources.

  • Solve practical problems as needed to complete job duties.
  • Read and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, and handbooks and apply to job duties.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand or sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must be able to lift 25 pounds.

Conditions and Environment

The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active.
