The Upper Coastal Plains Research Station is hiring an Agricultural Technician with growth potential for a fulfilling career in agriculture. Our mission is to serve as a platform for agricultural research to make farming more efficient, productive, and profitable, while maintaining a sound environment and providing consumers with safe and affordable products.
Our ideal candidate will have experience with planting, cultivating and harvesting a variety of crops such as tobacco, corn, peanuts, soybeans and small grains. This position works mainly in the field, completing tasks associated with general farm practices.
Other Functions Of This Position Include
- Operate farm equipment
- General maintenance of farm equipment
- General facility maintenance.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities / Competencies
The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed below, along with the Minimum Education and Experience requirements, are REQUIRED to qualify for this position. We will not review resumes in lieu of the Experience and Education listed on the application.
To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:
- General understanding of crop production.
- Ability to operate various tractors and equipment commonly used in a farm environment.
- Valid Driver’s License
Must possess the following at the time of application or qualify for certification within twelve months of employment:
- Public Pesticide Applicator License
- Forklift Driver Certificate issued by the Research Division
- Medical clearance to wear a half mask or full-face respirator with cartridges
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
You may qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience, either through years of education or years of directly related experience, or a combination of both.
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of experience in the general care and management of animals or crops, or laboratory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
