Job description

The Agricultural Input Regulatory Specialist I works for Vermont's Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets to help regulate the distribution of commercial feed, pet food, animal health products, fertilizer, seed, and pesticide products sold in the state. The role involves implementing consumer protection programs through both independent and collaborative work, including marketplace inspections, regulatory communication, and statewide travel. The position is based in Montpelier and requires adaptability to work within tight deadlines and interact respectfully with regulated entities and other officials.

Key qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and one year of experience in agricultural production, livestock farming, greenhouse operation, veterinary office, or related field
• OR three years of experience in farm/agricultural production or related field that includes database management
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within tight deadlines
• Statewide travel required
• Adaptability to manage conflicting opinions respectfully and work under stress
