Job summary

The Maryland Agricultural Experiment Station (MAES) at the University of Maryland College Park seeks a facilities operations specialist at the Western Maryland Research and Education Center in Keedysville, MD. You will assist the Assistant Director of Operations, coordinate fieldwork for UMD faculty, and supervise staff in the absence of leadership.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.
Six years progressively responsible agriculture experience, four in research and two in lead/supervisory roles.
Valid Maryland Noncommercial Class C or equivalent driver's license.
CDL or Class B license may be required and pesticide applicator certification may be required.

Responsibilities

Plan and carry out fieldwork including tilling, planting, fertilizing, spraying and harvesting for traditional and research plots.
Operate farm equipment such as tractors, planters, sprayers, combines and grain trucks.
Carry out routine maintenance of equipment, grounds and facilities.
Provide leadership to staff when the Assistant Director of Operations is absent.
