Qualifications

• EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED.
• EXPERIENCE: Six years progressively responsible experience in agriculture work, four years of which must have been in laboratory or field research and two years of which must have been in a lead or supervisory capacity.
• LICENSES: Valid Maryland Noncommercial Class C or equivalent driver’s license.
• KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Comprehensive knowledge of farming practices and equipment usage; understanding of scientific methods and related lab equipment; ability to perform mathematical calculations; ability to supervise and train staff; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support the Assistant Director of Operations in daily operations at WMREC.
• Coordinate fieldwork to support UM faculty research.
• Plan tillage, planting, fertilizing, spraying, and harvesting for traditional and research crops.
• Operate farm equipment including tractors, planters, sprayers, combines, and grain trucks.
• Maintain equipment, grounds, and facilities; provide leadership when supervisor is absent.
