Job summary

James River Equipment in Danville, VA is seeking an experienced Ag Shop Tech to diagnose, repair and service agricultural equipment. The role covers Monday-Friday with rotating Saturday mornings and requires adherence to safety rules.

You will maintain reports, time and parts records, and work with modern diagnostics. A valid driver's license and willingness to pursue JDU/Stihl/Wirtgen certifications are expected.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Completes dis-assembly and inspection to schedule parts and machine work.

We are seeking EXPERIENCED technicians familiar or certified with agricultural equipment for our Ag Shop Tech opening, which covers Monday-Friday and rotating Saturday mornings.

Day in the Life: Ag Equipment Technician

• Performs basic diagnostics and repairs on agricultural equipment and established products as requested by the Service Manager and Service Writer.
• Prepares all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.
• Mantains condition of shop, vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment.
• Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
• Complete dis-assembly and inspection, as efficiently as possible, so parts may be ordered and machine work can be scheduled promptly.
• Maintain records and account for all time, parts, and supplies used in repairing and servicing both customer and dealership equipment.

Need to Succeed:

• Experience as a mechanic diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing equipment, preferably heavy equipment, ag/turf equipment, compact construction, or related diesel equipment; experience with 2- and 4-cycle equipment will be considered for our locations with small engine shops
• Coachability and willingness to learn through continued training, such as JDU certification, capstone course, Stihl certification (where applicable), Wirtgen training, etc
• Recent and regular computer use, specifically in running codes and submitting work order information is strongly preferred
• Basic tooling required for most shops and training in diesel technology or heavy equipment mechanics is preferred
• Valid driver's license with ability to be insured on company policy and medical DOT card required for field technicians
