Responsibilities

• Inspect agricultural products at origin or markets for compliance and issue notices.
• Examine plant materials in nurseries for pests and diseases; note findings and control procedures.
• Survey fields and facilities to locate pests and assess infestation levels.
• Demonstrate proper pest/weed control to farmers and homeowners; advise on safety.
• Develop surveys to locate infestations and assist in field surveys for pests and parasites.
• Pursue enforcement actions, gather evidence, and prepare reports for court/administrative hearings.
• Represent the department at meetings with agencies, businesses, and the public.
