Job summary

Everforth Apex is seeking an experienced Agile Scrum Master to enable an ART in a hybrid Plano/Charlotte environment. You will facilitate Scrum ceremonies, coach teams, and partner with Product Owners to maintain a healthy backlog.

With 10+ years of delivery experience and expertise in Jira/Jira Align, you will drive predictability, manage dependencies, and support governance with strong communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical experience.
• 10+ years delivering on Agile teams in complex environments.
• 1+ year using Copilot Chat for story mapping and backlog refinement.
• Experience in ART models with PI planning and execution.
• Hybrid schedule requiring at least 3 onsite days per week.

• Lead PI Planning prep with objectives, risks, and capacity assumptions.

Agile Scrum Master

Location: Plano, TX / Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)

Role Overview

As a Contractor Scrum Master supporting Technology Infrastructure Priorities, you will enable an Agile team within a Scaled Agile (ART) environment. This role involves delivering technology outcomes across Database, Middleware, and Messaging platforms. You will be accountable for facilitating the Scrum operating rhythm, strengthening delivery predictability, managing dependencies, and ensuring alignment with Enterprise Change Management and other policy requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate and improve Scrum ceremonies: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Review/Demo, and Retrospectives.
• Lead PI Planning preparation for the team, ensuring objectives, dependencies, risks, and capacity assumptions are ready.
• Create stakeholder transparency by communicating plans, progress, risks, and dependencies using Jira and Jira Align.
• Proactively manage delivery risk through dependency mapping, impediment removal, and escalation as needed.
• Partner with the Product Owner/Product Manager to maintain a healthy backlog with clear priorities and ready stories.
• Leverage Copilot Chat (AI) to help formulate and decompose deliverables into epics and user stories, applying human validation.
• Use Jira Software Plans (Advanced Roadmaps) to validate and communicate the team's plan.
• Own the operating rhythm for Plans hygiene, resolving warnings to maintain trustworthy roadmap views.
• Use metrics (e.g., WIP, cycle time, throughput) to drive improvement and coach the team.
• Coach for team health and performance, focusing on psychological safety, conflict navigation, and continuous improvement.
• Represent the team in ART coordination (Scrum of Scrums / ART syncs) to resolve dependencies.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience.

Experience

• 10+ years of delivery experience on Agile teams in complex enterprise environments.
• 1+ years of demonstrated use of Copilot Chat (AI) prompt patterns for story mapping and backlog refinement.
• Scaled Agile experience in an ART model, including PI Planning and execution.
• Experience supporting production readiness and operational handoffs with Operations/SRE.
• A hybrid schedule requirement of a minimum of 3 days per week onsite.

Technical Skills

• Strong working knowledge of Jira and Jira Align for planning, reporting, and dependency visibility.
• Hands-on Jira expertise, including strong JQL proficiency.
• Hands-on proficiency with Jira Software Plans (Advanced Roadmaps), including resolving plan warnings.
• Practical experience using Copilot Chat (AI) to accelerate deliverable formulation and decomposition.

Preferred Qualifications

• Mastery in Scrum facilitation and coaching.
• Strong facilitation skills across multiple organizational levels.
• Ability to influence, remove obstacles, and motivate people without direct authority.
• Executive-ready communication skills for written updates and risk framing.
• Experience with backlog requirements rigor, including story splitting and acceptance criteria.
• Metrics-driven improvement using flow and predictability signals.
• Comfort operating in governance/change-control environments.
• Strong partnership with Product Owner/Product Manager and Engineering leadership.
• Advanced coaching techniques (e.g., Liberating Structures).
