Job summary

Freddie Mac is seeking a seasoned software engineer in McLean, VA to design and build microservices-based solutions using Java/SpringBoot and cloud technologies. You will mentor junior developers, lead design reviews, and drive automation with Docker, OpenShift, and CI/CD pipelines.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in CS (or equivalent) and 5+ years of enterprise experience with microservices architecture, MongoDB, and cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field with 5 years of software engineering experience.
• 5 years of Micro-Service Architecture at enterprise scale.
• Development using Java and SpringBoot.
• MongoDB and Cloud.
• Test frameworks including Mockito, WireMock, and Cucumber.
• Container management tools like Kiali and Rancher.
• CI/CD tools including GIT, Bitbucket, Jenkins to streamline deployment.

Responsibilities

• Partner with technical team to design solutions aligned with target state architecture.
• Provide technical guidance, lead design and code reviews.
• Train, mentor and provide thought leadership to junior developers.
• Analyze requirements and propose design options with proofs of concept as needed.
• Design and develop microservices-based solutions using Java/JEE, UI frameworks, Docker and OpenShift.
• Work on upgrades/migrations including middleware, database and PAM workflow to the cloud.
• Assess opportunities for improvement, optimization and performance tuning.
• Design scaling strategies and develop automation scripts.
• Provide mentorship on build automation using Docker and orchestration tools like OpenShift/Kubernetes/EKS.
• Ensure application stability with monitoring across all layers of the infrastructure.
• Support the team in solving issues with timely resolutions.
• Position may be eligible for part-time telecommuting.

Job Description:

• Partner with technical team to design technical solutions to complex business use cases that align with target state architecture and conforms with corporate standard methodologies.
• Provide technical guidance to the project team members, lead design and code reviews.
• Train, mentor and provide thought leadership to junior developers.
• Analyze the Business requirements and come-up with design options that align with the technical roadmap and build proof of concepts as needed.
• Design and develop Micro Services based solutions using Java/JEE frameworks, UI frameworks, Docker and Open Shift.
• Work on the technical upgrades/migrations including but not limited to middleware, database and PAM workflow to the cloud Assess opportunities for application and process improvements, optimizations & performance tuning for Java/ JEE applications.
• Design scaling strategies and develops automation scripts and solutions.
• Provide mentorship on build automation using Dockers & Containers, and Orchestration technologies like OpenShift / Kubernetes/EKS and Atlassian tool suite.
• Ensure application stability by implementing monitoring solutions for all layers of the infrastructure.
• Support the team in solving issues and come up with timely resolutions to address them.
• Position may be eligible for part-time telecommuting.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent* in computer science or in a closely related field followed by five (5) years of software engineering experience. Experience must include 5 years in the following:

• Micro-Service Architecture on an enterprise scale.
• Development using Java and SpringBoot.
• MongoDB and Cloud
• Test frameworks, including Mockito, WireMock, and Cucumber, for creating reliable and maintainable test suites that ensure code quality.
• Container management tools like Kiali and Rancher
• CI/CD tools including GIT, Bitbucket, Jenkins to streamline development processes and enhance deployment efficiency.

*Will accept educational equivalency evaluation prepared by qualified evaluation service.

40 hours per week 8:45 AM to 5:15 PM.

Work location: 8200 Jones Branch Drive, McLean, VA 22102. Salary range of $140,400 to $192,985.94 per year.

This position has a prevailing wage range of $140,400 to $192,985.94 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
