Role Overview

The Materials Division of H&K Group, Inc. is seeking an Aggregate and Asphalt Quality Control Technician responsible for collecting and testing samples of aggregate and asphalt to ensure quality standards and specifications are met. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, self-motivated, and experienced.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform work according to OSHA, MSHA, and H&K Safety policies
  • Follow and ensure compliance with quality control plans
  • Sample and test materials following standard practices and quality plans
  • Maintain test records and ensure compliance with company and agency standards
  • Keep a clean and organized work environment
  • Read and follow company policies and procedures
  • Calibrate and maintain test equipment
  • Communicate effectively with plant operations, agency representatives, and quality control supervision
  • Collaborate with sales team to address customer issues
  • Generate reports and communicate results and trends
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience
  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills
  • Basic math skills for AASHTO and ASTM calculations
  • Basic computer skills (spreadsheets, word processing)
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Effective time management
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to attain NECEPT technician qualification within 18 months
  • Ability to meet standards of PennDOT, PA Turnpike, FAA, and other authorities
  • Ability to fit test and use PPE
  • Physical ability to perform job duties (lifting, movement)
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with aggregates and bituminous materials
  • NECEPT bituminous plant and aggregate certification
  • Experience in construction materials production or use
  • Knowledge of crushing and asphalt plants
Physical and Work Environment
  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Use hands for handling, feeling, talking, hearing
  • Visual requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception
  • Occasional exposure to moving parts, high places, fumes, airborne particles
  • Work with materials up to 300°F
  • Hours may vary, including overtime, nights, and weekends
