Job summary

IBM's EDA team seeks early-career engineers passionate about software, AI, and semiconductor design. As an EDA Software Engineer, you will design and deploy innovative tools used across IBM's processors and computing systems, including zSystems, Power, Storage, and Quantum Computing products.

You'll work with hardware and software engineers to advance AI-driven automation for chip design, build and maintain design tools, and apply algorithms to support verification, synthesis, placement, and

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with object-oriented programming languages such as C, Java, Rust, or similar.
• Experience with Python or other scripting languages.
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and digital logic design.
• Coursework or project experience with AI or Agent Engineering.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to develop efficient algorithms and software solutions.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in collaborative, fast-paced engineering environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy tools used across IBM zSystems, Power Systems, Storage, and Quantum Computing products.
• Work on AI-driven automation for complex chip design workflows, including synthesis and place-and-route.
• Build and maintain software tools that support logic design, verification, timing analysis, and physical design.
• Collaborate with hardware and software engineers across IBM to deliver scalable solutions.
