Agent Recruiter Job Description

Our Client seeks an experienced Agent Recruiter to source, recruit, onboard, and develop freight broker agents to expand our agent model into new markets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transportation logistics, freight brokerage, and agent recruiting, with proven skills in relationship building and contract negotiation.

Responsibilities

  • Sourcing and Recruitment:
    • Meet or exceed budget goals
    • Identify and recruit agents specializing in Truckload freight (Van, Flat, Reefer), LTL, and Expedited using internal databases, job boards (Indeed, LinkedIn, JazzHR), social media, cold calling, networking, and referrals.
    • Maintain and track a pipeline of potential agents to ensure steady recruitment progress.
  • Marketing and Branding:
    • Update job descriptions to highlight company benefits and culture.
    • Execute marketing plans, including social media campaigns and blog articles on freight agent topics for the company website and industry media.
  • Interviewing and Onboarding:
    • Conduct phone and in-person interviews to screen and evaluate agents, collaborating with management to define the ideal agent profile.
    • Negotiate contracts and compensation terms, ensuring compliance with 1099 employment parameters.
  • Agent Development and Retention:
    • Train, coach, and mentor agents to maximize performance and margins.
    • Maintain post-hire relationships with agents to increase retention and reduce turnover.
    • Assist agents and corporate accounts in sales, business development, and conflict resolution, including on-site sales calls and customer conference calls.
  • Service Knowledge:
    • Maintain proficiency in all company services, including Truckload, LTL, Intermodal, International, Expedited, Warehousing, Contractual Logistics Management, and TMS Opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • 5+ years in freight brokerage and 2+ years in agent recruiting.
    • Experience as an agent or managing a network of agents is highly desirable.
    • Proven track record in sales, recruiting, or business development within a 3PL provider.
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for engaging candidates.
    • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and management skills to build relationships.
    • Excellent time management, multitasking, and critical thinking abilities.
    • Effective decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
    • Familiarity with 1099 employment parameters and contract negotiation.
    • Proficient in developing KPIs (e.g., pipeline development, close ratios, retention).
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Goal-oriented, self-motivated, and detail-oriented with a positive attitude.
    • Professional, adaptable, and able to operate under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Substantial network of agents or sales representatives in freight brokerage.
  • Experience developing and managing a team of business development representatives.
  • Background in Truckload freight (Van, Flat, Reefer) and familiarity with time and territory management reporting.
