Job description

About Us

Fieldguide is establishing a new state of trust for global commerce and capital markets through automating and streamlining the work of assurance and audit practitioners specifically within cybersecurity, privacy, and financial audit. Put simply, we build software for the people who enable trust between businesses. We're based in San Francisco, CA, but built as a remote-first company that enables you to do your best work from anywhere. We're backed by top investors including Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives, Bessemer Venture Partners, 8VC, Floodgate, Y Combinator, DNX Ventures, Global Founders Capital, Justin Kan, Elad Gil, and more. We value diversity - in backgrounds and in experiences. We need people from all backgrounds and walks of life to help build the future of audit and advisory. Fieldguide's team is inclusive, driven, humble and supportive. We are deliberate and self-reflective about the kind of team and culture that we are building, seeking teammates that are not only strong in their own aptitudes but care deeply about supporting each other's growth. As an early stage start-up employee, you'll have the opportunity to build out the future of business trust. We make audit practitioners' lives easier by bringing together up to 50% of their work and giving them better work-life balance. If you share our values and enthusiasm for building a great culture and product, you will find a home at Fieldguide.

About the Role

Audit and assurance are entering a new era. Advances in AI are transforming how firms prepare for engagements, evaluate evidence, and deliver assurance. Many of the workflows that have defined the profession for decades are being rebuilt from the ground up. At Fieldguide, we're building the AI-native platform that powers modern audit and advisory firms. Our platform combines workflow, collaboration, and AI agents to help firms operate more efficiently while maintaining the rigor and quality the profession requires. As an Agent Architect, you'll join a small, specialized team working at the intersection of audit expertise, product development, and AI. While you won't be performing audits for clients in this role, you will work closely with audit professionals and Fieldguide's engineering team to design and build the next generation of audit workflows. This role is ideal for someone who understands how audits work today—but is excited to rethink how they should work in an AI-driven future.

What You'll Do
  • Help design the AI-powered workflows that will define the future of audit and assurance.
  • Partner closely with engineering, product, and design teams to translate real-world audit processes into scalable product capabilities.
  • Work directly with audit firms using Fieldguide to understand their workflows, pain points, and opportunities for automation.
  • Identify edge cases, controls, and quality requirements to ensure the product meets the standards required for professional services workflows.
  • Collaborate with our ML team to develop AI agent capabilities that assist with tasks such as document analysis, testing procedures, and evidence evaluation.
  • Help rethink long-standing audit processes and shape how AI can augment professional judgment.
Who You Are
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting + CPA license or Master's degree in Accounting.
  • 8-10+ years of experience in audit at a leading public accounting firm at the Senior Manager level or above.
  • Experience auditing financial statements end-to-end, including designing and executing audit workpapers across financial statement areas.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience performing financial statement audits end-to-end, including planning and risk assessment, evaluating internal controls (ICFR), executing substantive testing across key balance sheet and income statement areas, and reviewing financial statements and disclosures.
  • Experience working across multiple clients and industries.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high bar for accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex accounting concepts into clear product requirements.
  • Strong prioritization skills and the ability to focus on the highest-impact work.
Bonus Points
  • Curiosity about AI and how it will reshape professional services.
  • Interest in working closely with engineers to build new systems from the ground up.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous environments and building without a predefined playbook.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • A deep interest in improving how audits are performed—not just digitizing existing workflows.
