Job Description

Agency Instructor I – Confined Space (Water/Wastewater Program) $5,833.34 per month 1 Full-Time Position.

The Role at a Glance

The Agency Instructor I performs training for various specialty, skilled and/or semi-skilled courses, specifically Confined Space Entry, within the Water & Wastewater program. Utilizes knowledge of adult learning theories and learning styles to help maximize learner success and ensure overall effectiveness of the course instruction. Performs online and/or classroom instruction, field-based skills training, and/or may provide technical assistance in a specialty area. Uses a variety of media to present course material. May assist in creating new content or updating existing curriculum content, when necessary, to meet the learner’s needs. The Instructor is expected to maintain their technical competence and skills. The purpose of this position is to perform instruction in proper confined space entry procedures and serve as a subject matter expert regarding confined spaces. In addition to instruction, duties will include delivery, set‑up, and maintaining the confined space entry trailer as well as all the safety equipment within the trailer. This position reports to the Training Manager.

Qualifications of the Role

• Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three years of hands‑on experience performing confined space entries and operation of, maintenance, design, construction, or regulation of water utility systems.
• Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
• Must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.

TCEQ Sponsor Requirements

• One year of experience in training adults, and 60 hours of classroom instructional experience OR Completion of approved Instructor training courses in: 1. Methods of Teaching OR Effective Instructional Techniques AND 2. Instructional Design and Evaluation OR Organizational and Use of Training Materials OR – the ability to attain within 6 months of employment.
• Equivalency: Will consider five years of related experience (Listed Above) with an Associate's Degree in applicable field from an accredited college or university OR seven years of related experience (Listed Above) with a High School Diploma/GED.
