A City agency is seeking an Agency Chief Decarbonization Officer to lead efforts in meeting emissions reduction targets. The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) Division of Energy Management (DEM) serves as the hub for emissions reduction and energy management for the City government portfolio. Pursuant to Executive Order 89 of 2021, DEM is seeking to hire Agency Chief Decarbonization Officers (ACDO) for multiple agencies, including the Department of Correction (DOC). The DOC is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for staff, visitors, volunteers, and individuals in custody, and operates facilities across the five boroughs.
Work Location: Bulova Corporate Center, East Elmhurst, NY/Queens
The ACDO will be responsible for leading efforts to meet decarbonization targets under LL97 of 2019, which aims for 40% emissions reductions by 2025 and 50% by 2030. The role involves strategic leadership, partnership with agency leadership, overseeing energy projects, managing budgets, developing procurement resources, participating in utility programs, leading organizational change, and implementing decarbonization initiatives.
Candidates should possess a master's degree in relevant fields and two years of related experience, or a bachelor's degree with four years of experience, including managerial or supervisory roles. Equivalent education and experience are also acceptable, provided the candidate has at least 18 months of supervisory experience.
