Job summary

University of Nebraska–Lincoln is seeking an Agricultural Research Technician I (Part-Time, On-Call) to support field and laboratory research at the Panhandle center in Scottsbluff, NE. The role involves irrigation and digital agriculture projects, field setup, sensor installation, sampling, and data entry.

Work may occur outdoors in variable weather. On-call hours can be up to 693 per fiscal year, with no paid leave or university benefits. Pre-placement checks and safety compliance are required.

Qualifications

At the UNL Panhandle Research, Extension and Education Center in Scottsbluff, NE, we innovate and conduct research to make life better for Nebraska ag producers and rural communities.

As an Agricultural Research Technician I (Part-Time, On-Call), you will:

• Assist with field and laboratory research supporting irrigation and digital agriculture projects
• Conduct field setup and maintenance
• Perform sensor installation and data collection
• Conduct crop and soil sampling
• Take laboratory measurements
• Clean and organize equipment
• Perform data entry and other tasks needed to complete funded project deliverables.

Work may occur outdoors in variable weather and may require occasional early mornings or extended hours. On-Call positions are hired to work during peak activity periods and may work up to 693 work hours per fiscal year. On-call employees are not eligible for any leave with pay or any other university benefits. Within the UNL system, this position is categorized as an O/S On-Call Worker.
