Job summary

Airgas is seeking an Inside Sales Representative with CDL for the Flagstaff, AZ retail shop. You will sell industrial gases, welding supplies and related goods, advise customers on product choices, and coordinate deliveries and pricing while ensuring safety and compliance.

The role emphasizes excellent customer service, accurate paperwork, and teamwork with branch staff. Prior SAP/PROS experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent preferred, with 1–3 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of one to three years of experience in an industrial retail, inside sales, customer service and/or inventory control related position.
  • Detailed understanding of SAP and PROS functionalities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Sells industrial, medical and specialty gases, welding equipment, tools and supplies to customers.
  • Advises customers on tools, hardware and materials needed and demonstrates proper use.
  • Arranges delivery of cylinders and hard goods and handles entry of orders and pricing.
  • Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers and processes cash and credit transactions.
  • Coordinates with purchasing for product shortages and assists with deliveries and loading/unloading.

Job Responsibilities

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

Sells industrial, medical and specialty gases, welding equipment, power and hand tools, paint and other supplies to customers. Advises customer on tools, hardware, and materials needed, and procedure to follow to complete tasks customer wishes to perform. Informs customer about quality of tools, hardware and equipment, and demonstrates use. Arranges for delivery of cylinders and hard goods by performing the following.

  • Responsible for adherence to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Ensures all required paperwork is accurately completed, including coding, costing, and pricing.
  • Advises customer on tools, hardware, and materials needed, and procedure to follow to complete tasks customer wishes to perform. Informs customer about quality of tools, hardware and equipment, and demonstrates use.
  • Order entry, process cash and charge orders; assist with reconciliation of cash and bank deposits.
  • Communicates by phone, e-mail and in person with customers, sales staff, store managers and others, inquiring about and providing information on cost, ordering and delivery times, etc.
  • Develop outgoing call strategy and make outgoing calls to support sales growth for the branch
  • Obtains or transfers merchandise requested by customers to and from other locations.
  • Answers customer questions concerning location, price and use of merchandise.
  • Totals price and tax on merchandise purchased by customers using computer, calculator and/or paper and pencil to prepare invoice. Accepts payment and makes change for customer purchases. Wraps or bags merchandise for customers and assists in loading and unloading cylinders.
  • Arranges with customer and location for delivery of cylinder and hard goods.
  • Maintains neat, clean and professional personal appearance.
  • Coordinates with purchasing department any product shortages or outages.
  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, vendors, co-workers and management.
  • Ensures all administrative and accounting related procedures are strictly observed.
  • Stocks shelves, warehouse, counters and tables with merchandise, and maintains showroom displays.
  • Maintains a safe driving record and appropriate driver’s license classification while operating company vehicles and equipment.
  • May load and unloads service trucks with gas cylinders, containers and supplies for scheduled route deliveries as directed by dispatcher and/or when Driver is not available.
  • Provides back-up to Driver to make deliveries in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction is met.
  • All employees are expected to perform any reasonable work request that falls within the qualifications but not specifically described.

Required Education
  • High school degree or the equivalent preferred, with one to three years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
  • Ability to clearly communicate by via phone, email or in person with customers, sales staff, Branch Manager and all the other branch personnel. Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds.
  • Basic computer skills (i.e. Window Applications).
  • Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.
  • May be required to operate a forklift in the warehouse.
  • Ability to read and comprehend safety data sheets.
  • Must be able to work occasional overtime, when necessary.
  • Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.
