Job summary

Children's Hunger Alliance in Columbus, OH seeks an Afterschool & Summer Food Service Specialist to coordinate CACFP ASAR & SFSP programs and partner-site onboarding, training, and compliance monitoring across Southwest Ohio.

You will travel up to 60% to sites, manage annual site applications and food orders, support field operations, provide training, and build partnerships with community groups to expand access to healthy meals.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Youth Development, Early Childhood Education, Communications, Social Work, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; confident presenting to groups.
  • Ability to interpret, apply, and maintain compliance with federal, state, and organizational guidelines.
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail; manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Children's Hunger Alliance (CHA) is seeking an Afterschool & Summer Food Service Specialist to coordinate the application, onboarding, training, and ongoing compliance monitoring for partner sites participating in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Afterschool At‑Risk (ASAR) and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) across Southwest Ohio. This role also supports local outreach initiatives to expand program reach and establish new community partnerships.

As the Afterschool & Summer Food Service Specialist, you will:

  • Coordinate the annual site application process and food order launches for regional afterschool and summer program partners.
  • Conduct daily field visits to monitor site operations and ensure compliance with USDA, state, and agency regulations for ASAR and SFSP.
  • Provide hands‑on support, retraining, corrective action management, and review resolutions for sites facing compliance challenges.
  • Facilitate annual regulatory and operational training for partner site staff, including program rules, administrative procedures, and required software platforms.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for participating sites, providing responsive customer service, guidance, and daily administrative support.
  • Review and adjust daily food orders based on student attendance and participation trends to help minimize waste.
  • Build and sustain strategic partnerships with local community organizations, faith‑based groups, and program stakeholders.
  • Research, identify, and recruit prospective partner sites, guiding them through the onboarding process for ASAR and SFSP.
  • Partner with the Claims Services Team and internal departments to support accurate record‑keeping, efficient food delivery workflows, and seamless service execution.
  • Participate in team, regional, and statewide meetings; assist with statewide meal donation requests and distribution logistics; and complete other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Youth Development, Early Childhood Education, Communications, Social Work, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may also be considered.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret, apply, and maintain compliance with federal, state, and organizational guidelines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including confidence speaking and presenting to groups.
  • Excellent time management, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Must have Valid Driver's License and Auto Insurance
