Job summary

The Canopy School in Ridgeland, MS is seeking an Afterschool Care staff member for part-time hours from 2:15 PM to 5:15 PM. You will provide homework support, organize recreation activities, and assist with planning meetings to support youth at The Canopy School Afterschool Program.

Responsibilities include assessing activity needs, coordinating afternoon activities, and leading direct care staff in implementing therapeutic recreation for youth.

Qualifications

• Requires HS diploma or GED and ability to communicate professionally.
• Work afternoons and early evenings required.
• Experience with youth or recreation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Activity Services: Complete an activity assessment on each new admission within five days.
• Provide homework support for students; document bi-weekly a summary of participation.
• Coordinate afternoon activities for students participating in Afterschool Care.
• Provide recreation groups as scheduled; attend Afterschool planning meetings as necessary.
• Provide leadership and direction to direct care staff in planning and facilitating therapeutic recreational activities for youth.
• Monitor activity implementation and safety; evaluate activities for youth welfare.
• Attend weekly recreation planning and instructional meetings with Recreation Coordinator.
• Assist in maintaining inventory and accountability for all recreational and PE equipment for the CARES Center and CARES School; inventory supplies monthly.
