Job summary

The Canopy School in Ridgeland, MS is seeking a part-time Afterschool Care staff member for the 2:15 PM to 5:15 PM shift. The role involves supervising activities, providing homework support, and coordinating enrichment programs for students in the afterschool program.

Responsibilities include assessing new admissions, leading recreational activities, planning meetings, and ensuring safety during all activities. Strong English communication and high school diploma or GED are required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Complete an activity assessment on each new admission within five days.
• Provide homework support for students.
• Coordinate afternoon activities for students participating in Afterschool Care.
• Provide recreation groups as scheduled.
• Attend Afterschool planning meetings as necessary.
• Provide leadership and direction to direct care staff in planning therapeutic recreational activities for the youth.
• Monitor activity implementation and evaluate activity for safety and care of youth.
• Attend weekly recreation planning and instructional meetings with Recreation Coordinator.
• Assist in maintaining inventory and accountability for all recreational and physical education equipment for the CARES Center and CARES School.
• Inventory recreational supplies monthly, replenishing as needed.
• Completes other duties as assigned
