Job summary

Cadence Education seeks an energetic Afterschool Counselor to join our preschool team in Fort Mill, SC. The role focuses on leading activities to develop gross motor skills and fostering a safe, inclusive environment for school-age children.

Ideal candidates will have relevant education and experience with young children, strong communication skills, and CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). This is a full-time or part-time position with hours aligned to preschool schedules.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or Bachelor's degree in physical education, early childhood education, or a related field preferred.
• Proven experience working with young children, particularly in a preschool or daycare environment.
• Solid understanding of child development principles and proficiency in designing age-appropriate physical activities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young children effectively.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to the dynamic nature of a preschool environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead structured activities, such as games, exercises, and obstacle courses, to stimulate gross motor skills development.
• Foster a safe and encouraging environment that encourages children to explore different movements and activities.
• Customize activities to meet the diverse needs and abilities of individual children, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all.
• Instill values of teamwork, cooperation, and sportsmanship through interactive group activities and games.
• Maintain open communication with parents and caregivers, sharing updates on children's day.
• Ensure the gym space is clean, organized, and equipment is well-maintained and safely stored.
