Job summary

LaAmistad seeks individuals passionate about K-5 education to support our afterschool programming as an academic instructor. You will deliver math and reading instruction, administer assessments, and assist with daily program operations.

This role emphasizes strong organizational skills, a love of children, and collaborative work with the Site Director and volunteers. In-person, temporary, part-time at Atlanta locations.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of instruction with children in grades K–5.
• Strong knowledge of math and reading strategies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Comfortable managing a room with many elementary students.
• Ability to administer and interpret academic assessments.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Responsibilities

• Deliver academic support focused on reading and math for individual needs.
• Set up and maintain afterschool activities in a safe, engaging learning environment.
• Administer reading and math assessments accurately to monitor progress.
• Analyze assessment data and prepare clear reports to guide instructional decisions.
• Provide grade-level appropriate resources and activities to support goals.
• Coordinate with volunteers to maximize program effectiveness and engagement.
• Build positive relationships with students, parents, volunteers, and staff.
