Position Overview

The Afterschool Manager provides leadership, direction, and oversight for LaAmistad’s Afterschool Program and Anímate Summer Academy. This role works closely with staff, students, families, and community partners to ensure a high-quality, engaging, and outcomes-driven program experience.

The Manager is responsible for program implementation, team leadership, operational excellence, and continuous improvement aligned with LaAmistad’s mission and values.

What You Will Do
Program Leadership
  • Create and maintain a learning environment that supports student growth and success
  • Analyze student achievement and program data to drive improvements
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement high-quality programming
  • Lead ongoing evaluation of program effectiveness
Team Leadership
  • Lead, manage, and supervise staff while fostering a strong and positive team culture
  • Facilitate weekly team meetings and set clear expectations
  • Conduct quarterly check-ins and annual performance evaluations
  • Support staff development through coaching and training opportunities
Operations and Program Management
  • Oversee daily operations across multiple afterschool locations in Metro Atlanta
  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure program quality and compliance
  • Manage logistics including supplies, scheduling, and coordination
  • Monitor program budgets and support financial accountability
  • Identify and resolve operational issues proactively
Community Engagement
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, schools, volunteers, and community partners
  • Ensure consistent and effective two-way communication
  • Lead student recruitment and enrollment in partnership with schools
Student Experience
  • Ensure a safe, structured, and joyful environment for all students
  • Support programming that meets the needs of diverse learners and families
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare reports and maintain accurate documentation
  • Serve as a resource for students, parents, and staff by responding to questions and concerns
  • Identify staff and volunteer training needs and implement plans to meet them
  • Ensure program alignment with LaAmistad standards and expectations
  • Support organizational initiatives and complete additional duties as needed
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in education or a related field
  • At least 3 years of successful teaching or leadership experience
  • Prior administrative or supervisory experience required
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities
  • Exceptional organizational and planning skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred
Work Environment
  • Traveling regularly to locations throughout Metro Atlanta
  • Standing, walking, and moving between sites as needed
  • Lifting and carrying materials up to 30 pounds
  • Supporting a fast-paced, dynamic program environment
