Job summary

Brooklyn Bureau of Community Service (inc) is seeking a part-time Education Assistant to support after-school programs at MS 409 - East New York Family Academy in Brooklyn. The role runs 2:15 pm–6:00 pm on weekdays during the school year and includes holiday camp coverage when DOE is closed, with pay at $25 per hour.

Responsibilities include delivering hands-on lessons, supervising 20 students, and communicating with families, while assisting with curriculum development and event planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; degree in Education a plus.
• Experience working with children and youth; must enjoy working with children.
• Must be flexible to work across all after-school programs.
• Computer savvy in applications, video conferencing, and responding to emails.
• Must undergo pre-employment screenings such as the Criminal Background Check.

Responsibilities

• Implement hands-on multi-sensory and project-based lessons and activities for 20–30 students.
• Submit lesson plans to program site director and Education Specialist for approval.
• Plan lessons for field trips related to the curriculum and supervise students during trips.
• Participate in curriculum and professional development trainings as required.
• Use creative teaching strategies to enhance literacy, SEL, arts, and STEM.
• Develop and plan culminating event presentations with staff.
