Job summary

The YMCA Ayrlawn in Bethesda is hiring dedicated and enthusiastic Group Leaders for our School Age Child Care program. This role offers meaningful work shaping children's afterschool experiences in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities include supervising children, creating safe activities, planning daily lessons, and communicating with families. A school-year schedule with morning and after-school shifts awaits a committed caregiver.

Qualifications

• Experience working with elementary-middle aged children in a school or childcare setting.
• High school diploma or GED required; relevant coursework or degree preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and behavior management skills.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Experience fostering an environment for children of all abilities is valued.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage school-age children in recreational, academic, and enrichment activities.
• Create a safe and stimulating environment for all participants.
• Plan and implement daily lessons and activities that support social-emotional and academic growth.
• Provide guidance and positive behavior support.
• Maintain communication with families and program staff.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times.
