Job summary

Highfields is seeking a teacher for the Reaching Higher Afterschool Program at Townsend Elementary School, Vandercook Lake, MI (Jackson) or East Jackson Elementary School, Jackson, MI. The role focuses on engaging academic enrichment activities for students in a two-hour-per-day afterschool program run Monday through Thursday.

Requirements include a Bachelor degree in a child-related field and Teaching Certification.

Qualifications

Shall be a person of good character who possesses the health, emotional stability, maturity and strength to carry out assigned duties.
Education / Certifications / Experience include a Bachelor degree in a child-related field and Teaching Certification.

Responsibilities

Create lesson plans to implement engaging academic enrichment activities.
Assist youth with homework and provide individualized tutoring.
Conduct yourself in a manner to serve as a mentor and role model.
Manage classroom in a safe and productive way.
Cultivates positive relationships with students, families, and school-day personnel.
Creates and leads parent and family education and service events.
Attends all mandatory meetings and completes all paperwork as required.
Participates in 18 hours of professional development per year that meets licensing requirements.
Performs duties in a manner that ensures compliance with Child Day Care Licensing rules and regulations.
Ensures program operates in a way that follows industry quality standards and in accordance with the grant.
Performs other duties as assigned.
