Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a part-time helper for its After School and Summer Day Camp program in Nebraska. You will protect, guide and supervise school-age children, assisting with daily activities and meals.

Requires at least 1 year working with children, strong communication, and the ability to follow safety and confidentiality policies. Driving duties and background checks are required; CPR/First Aid and Safe from Harm training within 90 days are expected.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year working with school-age children.
• Ability to be flexible and manage multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
• Good communication skills both written and spoken.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.

Responsibilities

• Assist the program director with program preparation.
• Prepare materials and equipment needed for daily activities.
• Serve meals and supervise the children during meal periods.
• Oversee specified age group and the daily activities each day.
• Lead and participate in all facets of the program: recreation, snack, craft, pool, field trips, etc.
• Enforce facility policies on behavior and safety.
• Follow progressive disciplinary procedures when needed.
• Document and report accidents using the EER process.
• End-of-day cleaning and organizing as needed.
• Driving is an essential role of the position.
• All other duties as assigned.
