Job summary

Henrico Education Foundation is seeking energetic Counselors to lead a designated group of children in after-school enrichment at Tuckahoe Elementary School, with part-time hours.

The role includes delivering engaging activities, supervising participants, assisting with homework, and fostering a safe, nurturing environment. Ideal candidates have a background in child-related fields and experience with youth programs.

Qualifications

• Degree in child-related field or related degree.
• Early childhood certificate required or preferred.
• At least 6 months of programmatic experience with children.
• Experience with activities like songs/music, arts/crafts, science, literacy, drama, or physical education is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver developmentally appropriate lesson plans and meet each child’s needs.
• Engage children to ensure high participation in activities.
• Build positive relationships and understand individual child needs.
• Ensure safety of all children in the group.
• Assist with homework and support academic progress.
• Provide active supervision and stay attentive at all times.
• Model professional behavior and support positive youth development.
• Create an inviting program environment for exploration and play.
• Promote teamwork and maintain clear communication with the supervisor.
• Attend staff meetings and complete required trainings.
• Adhere to all policies and regulations for the program and grants.
