Job summary

San Francisco Waldorf School is seeking a part-time Aftercare Aide to support Kindergarten through Grade 6 in the Aftercare program. The role runs 11:30am–5:30pm, Monday through Friday, with supervision of children during rest, snack, play and outdoor activities.

The Aftercare Director provides guidance, and the school emphasizes Waldorf education, inclusion, and collaborative work among staff. This position is non-exempt and paid hourly, with benefits per city ordinance.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years experience working with children indoors/outdoors or in a classroom setting.
• Bachelor's in Education preferred.
• Waldorf Teacher Training preferred.
• Familiar with Waldorf education.
• Good communication with colleagues.
• Interest in engaging children in crafts and outdoor activities.
• Able to work independently and with kindergarten faculty.

Responsibilities

• Set up Kindergarten rooms for rest time in a warm, welcoming environment.
• Assist during rest and snack times with Kindergarten and Aftercare staff.
• Hold a quiet late afternoon snack time.
• Prepare an afternoon snack for the children.
• Supervise Kindergarten children during playtime.
• Lead activities with Grades children, including drawing, crafts, sports, and outdoor games.
• Clean classroom surfaces, vacuum, and manage waste.
• Assist with late winter and spring camps for one week each.
• Assist in cleaning the play yard with children.
