The Salvation Army in Jersey City, NJ, is seeking dedicated individuals to assist After-School children with various interpersonal skills. Responsibilities include supervising school pickups, tutoring, and organizing recreational activities. Candidates should be Juniors or Seniors in High School with good academic records and a flexible attitude. Understanding the mission of The Salvation Army is essential. Qualifications
At least a Junior or Senior in High School with an outstanding academic report.
Maintain an 'A' or 'B' average in his/her own academic reports.
Be able to walk to and from schools (in assisting with school pick-ups).
Be able to work outdoors for recreational activities.
Be flexible to assist the Director and/or other staff in any necessary tasks.
Must understand and appreciate the mission of The Salvation Army.

Assist other staff members in the pick-up of children from the local public schools and accompanying them back to the Center
Review children’s homework assignments and assist them in completing them correctly
Keep accurate records of children’s assignments and progress
Inform Director of any concerns (social, academic, etc.) of the students
Provide tutoring to students when necessary
Assist and/or organize games, crafts, and other recreational activities
Supervise children to and from park, playground, field trips, etc.
Keep accurate records/tracking slips, attendance, lunch counts, etc.
Maintain proper staff to student ratio at all times
All other duties as directed by Corps Officer and/or Director
