Job summary

TOPEKA PUBLIC SCHOOLS is seeking an after-school tutor to provide individual or small group instruction under the supervision of a certified teacher. The role emphasizes differentiating instruction to meet each student’s academic needs and to support enrichment activities.

The position requires reliability and punctuality, skills in technology use, and willingness to collaborate with the school team. Spanish language ability is a plus, with hours typically 2–10 per week and total not to exceed

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age.
• Reliable and punctual and able to commit to 2-10 hours per week not to exceed a 40 hour work week.
• Knowledgeable of technology, remediation/enrichment activities, and children.
• Willingness to meet the individual academic needs of children through differentiated approaches.
• Knowledgeable about District policies and procedures.
• Speaking and understanding Spanish is a plus.
• Note (11-19-21): For new hires, the daily hours would not exceed 5 and the weekly hours would not exceed 25.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual/small group instruction under the direction of a certified teacher
• Review instructional materials and processes prior to conducting student lessons
• Provide data as requested to after-school coordinator
